Calypso

In the more volatile weather world, we’re living in, it’s always possible the flooring you have in your business is going to face the wrath of water. While this might sound disconcerting for having to replace your floor someday, you can find some flooring options that resist dampness.

Laminate flooring is already a great floor option for a commercial business or a home. Particularly if you live in places where flooding is more common, water-resistant laminate flooring should become one of your major investments.

The problem is that a lot of commercial laminate products like this are available. However, not all commercial grade laminate flooring is great at truly preventing water damage, despite claims otherwise. This is where Calypso Laminate Wood Floors excels.

Order a sample today and see why Calypso is the best laminate flooring option for the price. Unlike WPC waterproof core products that scratch easily, Calypso not only can last up to seventy-two hours with high moisture, flood, or general wetness from everyday activities; it’s scratch-resistant too. Take a look at the features and benefits of using this type of flooring for many business or home scenarios.

Durability for a Home or Business in Challenging Conditions

One of the immediate benefits to using laminate flooring is the durability aspect. For a business with constant foot traffic, there isn’t any better choice to keep your floor fully protected from the elements.

In your home, it works the same way. If you have a lot of kids, you already know what heavy floor traffic is like. When it comes to spills, water resistance is going to add an impressive layer.

Thanks to an external layer of toughness and resin coating, you get scientifically proven materials to hold up to more than just flooding. Laminate flooring is also scratch-resistant, helping immensely if you’re constantly moving heavy objects around your floor.

For a business or home, this is essential if people see your floor often. Customers may see your business’s floor and could form quick opinions about you if seeing a floor filled with scratches or worn areas.

In your home, it could prove an embarrassment if you invest in a cheap floor and have it show signs of wear during a time when you’re entertaining guests often.

Laminate Flooring Doesn’t Cost as Much as Other Options

Thanks to laminate flooring giving you the look of hardwood, you can still enjoy this type of aesthetic without paying for the real thing. Consider that if you used real hardwood, water would destroy it practically overnight.

Using a product like Calypso, you get the same look for a cheaper price. You’re not cutting any corners on quality either. While each laminate flooring option comes in different price ranges, you won’t have to worry about spending more than you want to.

At our sister site, Floor City, you can get Calypso water resistant laminate flooring for under $3 dollars per square foot. You’re not going to find a price like that at Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards.

Ease of Installation

When you’re short for a time due to running a business, the last thing you want is to have downtime installing new flooring.

The good news is laminate flooring is very easy to install. All the boards you buy in laminate flooring interlock, which makes them easy to place on your floor. It’s also easy to apply over existing flooring.

Other laminated flooring products frequently require gluing, stapling, or nailing as part of the installation process. Laminate flooring has such a convenient install method, many people do it without help.

The Use of AtroGuard for Waterproofness

Previously, most laminate flooring products were definitely water-resistant, though not really waterproofed like Calypso that can withstand water up to 72 hours. Many people used this type of flooring in their kitchens or around laundry rooms and bathrooms.

A serious water leak in these rooms of businesses or homes didn’t save the flooring completely. Despite laminate flooring being easy to clean, excessive water would frequently seep in from along the edges. Once water seeps under the surface layer, warping and swelling could occur.

With the development of the Calypso water repellent flooring, this changes. They use a specific branded material called AtroGuard as a water-resistant wood plank laminate.

What makes this unique is it has the pad already attached. This makes it easy to damp mop your floor when you get excessive water in bathrooms or kitchens.

A DIY Installation

While other laminate floorings may require a professional to install it for you, the Calypso brand is truly made for a DIY install.

As an affordable DIY flooring project, you can’t beat this brand. The installation system uses what’s called the Titan Triple-Lock system, essentially allowing a tight fit when installed on your floor.

With micro-bevel laminate planks, the flooring material is more water-resistant than anything you’ve likely used before.

To clean this floor, it’s better to do spot washing so excessive water won’t get into the cracks (as mentioned above). Any water not absorbed during cleaning could eventually cause warping, cracks, or separation. Mold could also occur, so proper cleaning techniques are worth taking seriously.

With the easy install and convenient maintenance for your waterproof laminate flooring, what about its aesthetic value?

Burnside 6.5” Laminate Flooring

Vacenti is a popular brand name within the Calypso collection. Their charcoal-colored Burnside product is a popular choice and comes in seven pieces per box.

Thickness level is 12mm with a 2mm pad attached to the planks. Size is also 6.5”x48” so you can cover extensive areas in your business or home. Overall, you can cover up to 15.25 sq. ft.

For a large floor area in your business receiving extensive floor traffic (or frequent liquid spills), you’ll want to consider this at only $45.14 for an entire box.

When placed in your home, you’ll also get a lifetime warranty. Those of you with commercial businesses can get a warranty good for 15 years.

Another top seller:

The Cardigan flooring product gives you another unique color on the planks. As a light gray color, this works well in matching muted colors within your business or home. This also comes with an underlayment moisture barrier.

Other popular products include Elkhorn laminate flooring, Jasmine, Java, Salem, Tundra, and Whiskey. The latter two provide you darker colors to match your exterior.

These products have other features you’ll want to know about. Some of them wouldn’t be findable at a comparable price in other big box stores.

A High AC Rating

One aspect of the Calypso laminate flooring you’ll appreciate knowing about is its AC4 rating. If you’re unfamiliar with what this rating is, it stands for Abrasion Class.

This term is used often in the laminate flooring industry and originally came from the Association of European Producers of Laminate Flooring. Later, this became a standard across the globe.

The AC rating is worth looking at before you buy a laminate flooring product. It’s going to tell you a lot about how well it performs based on the floor traffic you experience.

When gaining a score, the AC rating goes by testing key stress points. These consist of staining, impact, heat, moisture, scratches, and scuffs.

To receive a decent rating, the laminate flooring product has to pass all of these tests. Even if it fails one, the product becomes “unrated”, thus becoming more of a risk to buy.

All Calypso laminate flooring products have a rating of AC4, which is a high rating for residential use. An AC4 is also suitable for commercial business use, but only if you have moderate foot traffic.

AC5 ratings are the highest. Nevertheless, the AC4 rating on the Calypso flooring makes it perfect for busy offices or cafes.

The Benefit of SureCore

Thanks to one of the strong features in the Calypso brand being AtroGuard, you’ll have another durable and embedded feature: SureCore.

This is an ultra-stable part of the flooring allowing you to install it over 4000 sq. ft. without unsightly transition moldings between rooms or open spaces.

When you’re placing this flooring in multiple rooms, this is a great feature to have. On an aesthetic level, this brings a more seamless look from room to room. For homes, this is a major plus, though it works well in commercial businesses as well.

Since you may have customers who see your floors often, a lot of opinions are often formed in the moment at the condition of your floors.

Water Resistance Up to 72 Hours

Those of you worried about just how waterproof the Calypso flooring is, you can depend on water resistance for up to three days.

During times when you face an unexpected flood and have water sitting on the floor for up to 72 hours, you won’t have to worry about it being ruined beyond repair. This should encourage you to use this flooring in areas of your home or business with the most vulnerability to possible water damage.

No other previous laminate flooring product was able to withstand water for this period of time. It goes to show how laminate flooring continues to evolve and become more invincible to the elements as time goes on.

By the coming decade, you may see stronger waterproof laminate flooring available. In the meantime, Calypso flooring is the best in the industry.

Double Power Seal

Another branded feature to look out for is Calypso’s double power seal. When you see these keywords, you’ll know it means extra water resistance.

This is your complete guarantee that if any flooding is worse than expected, your floor is still going to hold up. Sometimes unexpected flooding can occur from an area within your home or business rather than directly from nature.

For laundry rooms, your washing machine might malfunction and flood your floor. Or, a water pipe break in the middle of winter could mean your laminate flooring being covered in water for a day or two.

Many Trims and Accessories

You may want some floor trims to go with this flooring product. All flooring trims for Calypso wood laminate flooring are 94 inches in length. It’s possible to buy these by the piece if you want.

In cases where you intend to ship these laminate floor trims, we recommend using full boxes to avoid any damage during shipping. Keep in mind we don’t cut floor trim to fit your project. Nevertheless, we’ll offer you a discount if you order full boxes of commercial laminate flooring in bulk.

Other accessories include being able to choose your own laminate wood color, reducers, T-molding, end-caps, and stair nose. All of these are available for an additional $25.99 each.

An Embossed, Real Wood Look

Most people won’t be able to tell the difference between laminate flooring planks and real wood. The embossed, real wood look to the Calypso brand looks like the real thing up close, showing you how far technology has gone in convincingly creating a faux wood look.

When you have a business with a rustic theme, this is the perfect aesthetic without having to spend a fortune. Real wood is always double or triple the cost of what laminate flooring offers.

Plus, wood always needs tremendous upkeep and replacement a lot sooner. Certainly, water would ruin real wood instantly, including bringing dry rot if you don’t manage to clean up the water in time.

Simplicity in Ordering Your Floor

This type of flooring might sound like such a specialty product, you’d have to go through a complicated process to acquire it.

At Floor Ideas and Floor City, we make it extremely simple to order this flooring and many more flooring products with brand names like Armstrong to Metroflor. You won’t find prices like ours anywhere on the net either.

Cleaning & Maintenance

We recommend using a broom, dry Swiffer or Roomba to remove dirt or for deeper cleaning a wet sweeper or low moisture mop will do the trick. Note: Make sure not to over saturate an area or the entire floor! It's best to spot clean as any extra water could slip beneath the floor if not absorbed during the cleaning which can cause the laminate flooring for commercial use to warp, crack or separate; and possible lead to the growth of mold. Don't get too scared by these facts, almost every flooring product has the same issues and that is why most premium wood laminate floors are meant to be cleaned with light amounts of water and only for a short period of time.
